Celtic Spirit Dancers is the only Irish dance school in Central Newfoundland and the only Irish dance school to participate in Feis or competition from Newfoundland. With dancers ranging in age from 5 years to adult, the group are extremely active. Besides learning dance, they perform in annual musicals and regularly give back to the community through regular performances and donations. Irish dancing is an extremely rare and highly skilled art/sport. In order for Celtic Spirit Dancers to progress and continue with their passion for Irish dance and culture, travel off the island of Newfoundland is mandatory and this is a huge expense. Regardless, the group will try to make the dreams of as many dancers as possible and take them to the home of Irish dancing- Ireland. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for these kids and requires 2 years of fundraising. The group have set their sights on travelling to Ireland in 2012 to partake in the World Irish Dancing championships. They also plan to book lessons and workshops in Irish dancing and partake in the culture that Newfoundland is so closely related to. The dancers are indeed excited to be planning this opportunity and sincerely hope that it becomes a reality for as many dancers as possible.
